FabLittleBag Wins Stationers' Company Innovator of the Year 2025

FabLittleBag Wins Stationers' Company Innovator of the Year 2025

We're absolutely thrilled—and yes, a bit gobsmacked—to announce that FabLittleBag has won the prestigious Innovator of the Year 2025 award at The Stationers' Company Innovation Excellence Awards.

A Night to Remember at Stationers' Hall

The seven category winners of the awards, organised by The Stationers' Company, were unveiled at a packed ceremony and champagne lunch last Friday (17 October).

The flagship award, Innovator of the Year 2025, which was presented by Dr Vanessa Lawrence CB, was award to us for our sustainable and discreet period disposal bags. Our bags are designed to tackle the plastic pollution caused by tampons and pads in waterways, by stopping people flushing them down the loo. We are also seeking to normalise the conversation around periods and period waste disposal.

From Flushers to Binners: Our Mission Recognised

Since 2014, we've been on a mission to change how people dispose of period products. Founded by our CEO and inventor Martha Silcott, FabLittleBag exists to "educate and convert the Flushers to become Binners"—because the only things that should go down your toilet are pee, poo, and (toilet) paper.

Flushing tampons and pads causes devastating blockages, costs UK water companies over £100 million annually, and contributes to plastic pollution in our waterways. Our plant-based disposal bags—made from sugar cane, cornstarch, and recycled plastic—offer a better solution: sustainable, opaque, odour-sealing, and designed to open one-handed for ultimate convenience and discretion.

A Triple Win

The evening was full of surprises. Our amazing founder Martha said "being highly commended for the Customer Experience category and then winning the Product Design category was truly an amazing feeling".

"To then go on and win the overall Innovator of the Year award was a huge honour," she added.

"I normally talk about 'gobsmacked Flushers'. I was definitely a gobsmacked winner."

Breaking Taboos, Building Solutions

This award isn't just about product design—it's about advocacy, education, and dignity. We've always believed that periods shouldn't be taboo, and proper disposal shouldn't be an afterthought. Whether it's preventing plumbing disasters, protecting our environment, or simply giving people a dignified way to dispose of their period products, FabLittleBag addresses a real need that's been ignored for far too long.

The co-chairs of the awards, Kate Howell and Vida Barr-Jones, said all of the 2025 winners should be "immensely proud of what they've achieved".

We certainly are. But more than that, we're grateful—to our customers who trust us, to the partners and distributors who believe in our mission, and to everyone who's helped us challenge the status quo and set new standards for washroom hygiene for women.

What's Next?

This recognition fuels our commitment to expand our reach, educate more people about responsible disposal, and continue innovating solutions that combine sustainability with dignity. From schools and workplaces to sports clubs and beyond, we're working to make proper period product disposal the norm, not the exception.

Thank you to The Stationers' Company for this incredible honour. Here's to converting more Flushers into Binners—one bag at a time.
