Protecting Period Dignity and the Planet – One Cottage at a Time

At FabLittleBag, we believe that sustainability and dignity should go hand in hand. That’s why our partnership with the National Trust Wales is both meaningful and impactful. Both organisations are deeply committed to protecting the natural world while creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy. Our shared vision of sustainability, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility makes this partnership a natural and powerful fit.

Together, we've introduced FabLittleBags into 48 National Trust holiday cottages across North Wales—from the breathtaking coastlines of Rhiw Mountain to the historic charm of Powis Castle, Tan-y-Bwlch, and Chirk Castle. These thoughtfully located dispensers provide guests with a stress-free and sustainable solution for managing their period while enjoying the great outdoors.

FabLittleBags are not only hygienic and discreet, but also consciously designed with the planet in mind. Each bag is made from 60% renewable sugarcane and 30% recycled plastic, reducing our reliance on virgin materials and lowering the carbon footprint. With a one-handed opening and a secure seal, they offer a clean and easy way to dispose of tampons and pads.

The impact of this initiative goes far beyond convenience. In the UK alone, a staggering 2.4 million tampons are flushed down the toilet every single day, contributing to pollution in our rivers and seas. This behaviour not only damages ecosystems and harms wildlife but also causes serious issues for domestic plumbing. At these heritage-rich National Trust cottages, where older pipes are often delicate, improper disposal can lead to blockages and expensive maintenance. FabLittleBag offers a simple solution that protects the plumbing and keeps operations running smoothly.

Enhancing Guest Experience and Sustainability

The addition of FabLittleBags has significantly elevated the guest experience. It shows visitors that their comfort and needs have been thoughtfully considered, promoting a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. Myfanwy Cope, manager of the North Wales holiday cottages, has been a driving force in this initiative, personally travelling across the region to install and maintain the dispensers. Her passion for sustainability and period inclusivity is helping set a new benchmark for hospitality.

As one National Trust guest shared: "I love walking in nature, but periods made that tricky. I’d often worry about disposal options on long hikes. Now, knowing FabLittleBag is available at the cottage, I feel completely at ease. It’s discreet, eco-conscious, and I always pop one in my bag before I set out—it’s a little thing that makes a big difference."

A Partnership Driving Long-Term Impact

This partnership doesn’t just benefit guests—it boosts brand reputation for both organisations. For the National Trust, it demonstrates a commitment to progressive, sustainable hospitality that attracts eco-conscious travellers and builds loyalty. For FabLittleBag, it represents an important step in shaping a more period-supportive UK, one that prioritises both comfort and environmental responsibility.

We're incredibly proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to working with more businesses to promote period positivity and environmental care across the country.
