The Lexus Nottingham Tennis Centre, Theydon Bois Tennis Club, Beverley Park, and Roundwood Tennis Club have all made a significant move toward supporting women and girls by joining FabLittleBag’s Period Supportive Movement, officially designating their venues as Period Supportive Venues.

By offering free period products and providing discreet, hygienic, and responsible disposal solutions through FabLittleBag, these venues are helping to alleviate the stress and stigma often associated with managing menstruation, particularly when periods arrive unexpectedly or products & the means for binning them, are unavailable.

Studies, including insights from Sport England and Women in Sport, show that the lack of proper facilities and the challenges of managing periods are major factors contributing to 64% of girls dropping out of sports by the age of 17. The addition of FabLittleBag dispensers in toilet cubicles allows girls to bin period products easily and hygienically without feeling the need to flush the products, which causes pollution in rivers and oceans.

FabLittleBag also provides Coaches bags, which include tampons and pads, available during tennis sessions to further normalise period discussions and create a more comfortable, inclusive environment for both female participants and male coaches.

Jo-Anne Downing, LTA Programme Strategy Manager, stated:

It’s incredibly important that we are creating environments in which women and girls feel supported and comfortable when playing tennis and it is often small things that can go a long way. We’re delighted that these clubs have recognised the benefits of being a period supportive venue and will continue to work with all clubs, venues and coaches to see this adopted more broadly.”

Martha Silcott, Founder of FabLittleBag, added:

“Periods must not be a barrier to participation in sport, and I am so delighted that these LTA venues have joined our Period Supportive Movement creating more inclusive welcoming environments where women and girls feel supported, and their basic needs are met. In addition to the benefits felt by female users, there are also significant benefits to venues and the environment from responsible disposal.”

With 2.5 million tampons and 1.4 million pads flushed daily in the UK, causing costly plumbing blockages and polluting rivers and oceans, FabLittleBag’s responsible solutions offer a positive change.

Emily James, a coach at NET 360, based at Beverley Park Lawn Tennis Club, shared: "We jumped at the chance of partnering with the LTA and FabLittleBag to promote period positivity. It's a subject we feel very passionately about, especially in sport. We don't want our girls to feel embarrassed and we certainly don't want it to be a reason they don't come to play tennis."
