Shellac was the first of the long lasting nail lacquers to come to the market and has therefore acquired something of a 'Hoover' benefit. I had my first experience with the OPI version recently and I think on reflection it is preferable - primarily because it only takes 40 secs to dry for each coat compared to 2 mins for Shellac. However it is Shellac that is covering my nails as I write as OPI's dark green was not quite dark enough - yes dark green, I know, not exactly fashionable, in fact the manicurist took great pleasure in telling me that in her three years of working there she had never been asked to apply this colour... I fancied a change from the red brigade! Anyway I digress, the crucial point of this post is that I want your advice. Whilst Shellac/OPI ,whichever, is marvelous for the two weeks it is one your nails, the issue comes when it is time for it to come off. You are meant to go back and they take it off using stinky chemicals, this is meant to be best for your nails but I am not convinced. To that end I commit the cardinal sin of peeling it off my self then rubbing oil on my nails for a couple, of days and cutting them short to recover. Leave for a couple of weeks and you are good to go again. If anyone has other tips or strategies, I am all ears...
